Unlike digital prints or mass-produced artwork, every portrait is individually hand drawn, one pencil stroke at a time. Pastel pencil is an ideal medium for pet portraits, capturing the softness of fur, the warmth in their eyes, and the subtle details that make your pet unmistakably them. This intentional, slow process ensures each piece feels personal, meaningful, and worthy of being passed down for generations.
A custom pet portrait also makes an incredibly thoughtful and emotional gift — perfect for pet lovers, remembrance pieces, or celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime companion. This is more than art for your walls; it’s a way to honor a life that mattered deeply.

What you need to know
*There are three size options to choose from. A hand drawn portrait is an investment. Three options for sizing let's you choose that investment!
*When you order you can upload multiple images. Sometimes it's hard choosing. Sometimes you want me to choose and sometimes you only have access to a photo or two if you're being sneaky because it's a gift. Upload as many as you want and then I can have a look and offer opinions or pick. The more info you provide me with the better!
*High quality photos are best but I also understand if all you have are ones that aren't the best. I can still work with a lower quality photo but expect I may ask you more questions. Rootsy the Beagle up here was a very low quality photo that didn't show the details. In fact - her eyes looked solid black. The joy of commissioning a portrait is that I can take that not-so-great favourite photo and bring out the details again.
*Turn around times - this is not a fast process for a reason! The pastel process is done through layering and very finicky details that are finely drawn. You don't want me to rush! Saying that you can expect your portrait to take anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 weeks depending on a few factors. I will keep you up to date as I go.
*I really do want to get to you know your pet! There is a space when you order where you can tell me all about them. Their funny moments, little quirks - whatever it is you love or loved about them the most. This step is optional but I encourage it!
*NO I DON'T JUST DRAW DOGS! A pet is a pet! Cats, birds, horses....I love to get to know them all. Even reptiles! (We had a leopard gecko once that I need to draw one day!)
