"Hi Bird" Red Winged Blackbird

Each morning through the spring and summer months our dog walk takes us past a water retention pond that is full of life. Each morning we are greeted by what we like to assume is the same red winged blackbird who has come to say hello. "Hi Bird!" is what my walking partner says to him each day and this exchange inspired this piece.
